Decorate With Grey And White For French Style Interiors

Decorators have for awhile thought of grey as the new white. It’s a more elegant neutral that gives depth to subtle colors and makes bold tones pop (rather than shout). It is a color of calmness and serenity. It conveys a cool elegance and is a symbol of introspection. It is an interesting color and can go from dark grey representing strength, to a softer grey, which becomes more innocent and fragile.

While I think all styles of grey rooms are wonderful, to me the most beautiful are the French grey and white rooms. I am so torn between my love of color and my love for the simple beauty of THIS combination. There is such a peacefulness that it brings and that is where it's appeal is. If you are redecorating or building a new home, I encourage you to consider this style. Let the images of this post inspire you!

This grey, weathered wood  room is so gorgeous. There are many  techniques on how to achieve this look with the use of stains or paints. You just have to do your homework and find the one you like the best.

There is nothing like exposed grey stone walls and wooden shutters.

Accessorize with pewter or weathered silver treasures. They are perfect for grey and white rooms.

The weathered floors and  antique grey book case are so pretty against the white walls.

What a lovely image!

I love this grey armoire.  And the the linens in white and grey are wonderful.

Crystal chandeliers look stunning with grey and white. You have to have one in you grey  interior!!

Whitewashed walls and grey stone floors... perfect for this weathered furniture!

Try painting your woodwork grey. It is a fabulous choice to use in your home.

Oh so elegant grey!

With gray, make sure you pick a softer white paint for walls.

These pink geraniums look beautiful against grey stone.

The chandelier is the perfect touch for this beautiful grey and white foyer.

Shutters are a wonderful design element. Get some and use them in a variety of ways in your interiors.

Introduce lots of light sources in grey rooms in the form of  table lamps, sconces, and floor lamps. Gray is already the color of shadow—you don’t want to cast more with a strong overhead fixture. A crystal chandelier is an excellent idea for overhead. Layered lighting keeps the room flattering.”

Use flat paint, not semigloss or high-gloss, on walls. Grey gloss paint can make your room look too industrial.  Isn't this grey harlequin floor fabulous?

Look at how pretty this wreath is against the weathered barn wood. Grey is a wonderful background color.

Are those doors  incredible or what!!!
