A pagoda is the general term in the English language for a tiered tower with sometimes as many as 15 stories, each projecting an upward curving tiled roof. They are common in Nepal, India, China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Burma and other parts of Asia and are usually part of a temple or monastery group that serve as shrines. The pagoda is an iconic Chinese silhouette that is associated with Chinoiserie or Chinese Decor, a style that has been around for centuries and is making a strong comeback.
