The Chesterfield sofa has been around for hundreds of years and has always been known for quality and comfort. It is commonly believed that the first tufted leather comfortable couch was originally commissioned in the 18th century by the Fourth Earl of Chesterfield, namely Philip Dormer Stanhope. Others are convinced it is just another name for a sofa or couch.
