Decorating In Patchwork Chic

When you say patchwork the first thing that comes to mind is Grandma's patchwork quilt. While vintage quilts are lovely, the patchwork I am focusing on in the blog post is a design style very well known in Great Britain right now, but is quickly spreading.

Mixing different textures and fabrics, cut up and sewn back together in a modern twist, is called Patchwork Chic. You can create a variety of interior styles from soft, gentle, and warm, to conversely bright and crazy. In fact, the patchwork style can be applied to almost all interior elements such as pillows, wall art, wallpaper and upholstery.

If you want to be a part of the current patchwork trend, but you just aren't sure about the best way in which to introduce it to your home, check out the pictures I have assembled to help you.

The beauty of patchwork is that it can be used to bring together the various colors and patterns in the rest of the room.

For those who want to explore the patchwork trend without going overboard on color, there are many beautiful options available.

Patchwork sofas are crafted by working with a variety of pieces of material to cover the sofa. These cuts of fabric are assorted sizes and materials. Some of the most popular fabrics used are velvet and leather. Investing in a patchwork sofa or chair is a great way to make a statement in the room of your choice. There is sure to be a design out there to suit your price range.

Decorate With The Chesterfield Sofa For Elegance AND Comfort

The Chesterfield sofa has been around for hundreds of years and has always been known for quality and comfort. It is commonly believed that the first tufted leather comfortable couch was originally commissioned in the 18th century by the Fourth Earl of Chesterfield, namely Philip Dormer Stanhope. Others are convinced it is just another name for a sofa or couch. Whatever its origins, the Chesterfield is a classic item that symbolizes a certain style and is known for being beautifully hand-crafted by masters in England.

History reveals that these types of couches have been commonly used in the confines of old institutions, government buildings and luxurious homes for generations. A chesterfield couch anywhere is known as top of the line. These sofas, however, are no longer the couch for the elite, but the furniture of people with great taste.

Apparently the Earl requested a local craftsman to construct a piece of furniture that would allow a gentleman to sit upright in the utmost of comfort allowing sitting without wrinkling the garment. This was the original purpose of the Chesterfield sofa with its characteristic deep buttoned upholstery, rolled arms, equal back and arm height and nail head trim.

Most distinctively these sofas have thickly padded arms, seats and back. Typically of varying natural colors of a high quality grain of leather with backs being deeply tufted with large buttons.

The Chesterfield was a mark of class and stature back in the old days and was furniture previously reserved for the upscale market.

Throughout the years, Chesterfield sofas have graced the palaces of royalty, prominent business offices, hotels, restaurants, gentleman's clubs and luxurious private homes.

Successfully exported trough the colonies of the British Empire by the officials of the Royal Army it soon became a worldwide peerless emblem of British style.

A Chesterfield is about buttons, leather and quilting.

What was once a status symbol of the elite is now a much sought-after addition to the modern home or business.

The elegance brought by these leather Chesterfields cannot be underestimated. Modern designers use Chesterfield sofas as inspiration while designing interiors for today’s homes and buildings.

This fabulous patchwork Chesterfield is the perfect example of how a classic can be modern and trendy.

The sofas’ tufted back and all-leather base are still serving its purpose of comfort and style.

Customization of these leather armchair and sofas are very much possible, given the numerous sellers and manufacturers. Fabric choices, colors and designs are more varied and up-to-date.

Still popular in gentlemen 's clubs, there has also been a return to the original form with velvet Chesterfields increasing in popularity.

The leather will need periodically feeding with leather care wax or creams to the soft, luxurious condition.

While the Chesterfield is usually thought of as manly .......

it does have its softer side.

This sofa is known for its rather large built and upright armrests that are upholstered. It can be associated to a gently giant since with its big frame and intimidating looks, it can be the softest and most COMFORTABLE sofa you can sit on.
